New York City is well known for having limited look angles.  Madison Square Gardens is no exception.  Time was, satellite trucks parked on the south side of the Gardens - 31 st, with a good look at much of the sky.  However, the cable run was about 1800', which is impossible without fibre in the HD world.  When a taxi pickup area on the north side became closed off, it was a natural to park uplink next to the production compound.  Thus, it was about 50' from the encode gear to the truck.  Sometimes things just work out well!

Here on the left is our C band truck, in the middle is NES's Ku providing backup.  Far right is the "B Unit" where HBO has transmission gear onboard a semi-trailer.  Their kit travels to each and every event, providing consistent encode service for the entertainment network.  This is essentially the same setup used last fall for the George Carlin event and every live event HBO does.
